Australian Provincial Team on Tour in Japan

Jennifer Stockman, Monday, 25 May 2009
Below is an update from Head Coach of the 2009 Australian Provincial Team, Allan Parrott.

The Australian Provincial team is currently touring Japan.  This is the first time the APT has embarked on a tour of Japan.  After a brief preparation camp in Guam where the team won two games, the team then began the Japanese leg of the tour.

The APT won the first two games in Japan against the Morioka University and Fuji University teams.  The team then began a series again the Industrial League and Independent League teams in Morioka, Niigatta and Nagano.  Although not recording a win against these teams, the APT has been extremely competative against highly talented and very professional opposition.

The team travels to Tokyo to play the first of two games of the tour, against a highly ranked Industrial League Team and a College Team.

During this tour they have also visited 2 schools and a coaching clinic for Junior teams.  These have all been successful and have all been received by the Japanese with much friendship and requests of come back again.

The team has made many friend and valuable contacts.  Danny Mayuraur has guided the team with great skill and efficiency.
