Important Information for You and Your Team Followers
PRE-WORLD SERIES INSTRUCTIONS MEMORANDUM
It is important that the team manager and the business manager read this 4-page memorandum (previously mailed to you) very carefully. It contains vital information concerning your participation at the 2005 Cal Ripken Baseball 12-Year-Old World Series to be held in
TEAM PICTURE
It is extremely important we receive your team picture. The team picture must include the team manager, the two coaches and a maximum of 15 players. No one else. All must be in uniform. All the teams participating in the World Series will have their team picture included in the World Series program book.
Glossy photographs must be sent via overnight delivery, or high resolution digital photos may be emailed to rosemary@baberuthleague.org

As a reminder, it is important that you arrive at the airport at least TWO hours prior to your scheduled flight departure time. Do not forget to pack your passport for international travel. It is advisable to make a few photo copies of your passport so you can keep one at home and take a copy with you in the event you lose or misplace your passport. Also, please be sure to clearly mark all your personal baggage.
Should your scheduled time of arrival at the airport change due to unexpected delays, please immediately contact World Series Director Robert Faherty via his cell phone at 001-609-462-6466. It will be important to advise him of any major changes in your arrival time so that the bus can be alerted to arrive at the airport when your plane lands.
ARRIVAL IN USA
Upon your arrival in the
ORIENTATION MEETING
Orientation will take place at the Wingate Inn in Bel Camp, Maryland. You will be provided with refreshments upon your arrival. At the meeting you will meet the World Series Director, World Series Task Force Officials as well as the Local Committee and the Host Family members who will be housing and feeding your team players. Please be sure to bring the Player Profile Sheets as they are due at this time.
After the meeting has concluded, the players will leave with their host families. The team manager will be provided with the names, addresses and phone numbers of all the homes where the players will be housed.
HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS FOR TEAM OFFICIALS
The translator/business manager, team manager and coaches are required to stay at the Wingate Inn. After the Orientation Meeting, they will be checked into the Wingate Inn located at
The two managers and two coaches will be provided a total of TWO complimentary hotel rooms for their stay during the World Series. If an additional room is required, this third room will be at your own expense. The cost of the hotel room at the Wingate Inn for team managers and coaches is $99 per night. HOTEL RESERVATIONS FOR PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF THE TEAM
In order to avoid confusion, one person must be designated to coordinate the reservations for the team followers. Your coordinator must communicate with Donna Tarr at Ripken Baseball. The cost of the hotel rooms at the Wingate Inn for team followers is as follows: $119 for a single room (with one king-size bed) or a double room (with two double-size beds); or $149 for a suite (which includes 1 king-size bed, 1 double-size pull-out sofa bed, a sitting area, breakfast area, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee-maker, as well as a large jacuzzi bathtub)

· Smoking or Non-smoking preferences
· Credit Card information required for each reservation made: We will require the name of the cardholder, the type of card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and the card expiration date.

WORLD SERIES PICNIC
This picnic is held in honor of the teams participating at the World Series. Tickets may be reserved and then purchased upon your arrival. It is suggested that you reserve tickets in advance.
OPENING CEREMONIES
The guest speakers at the Opening Ceremonies will be Cal Ripken, Jr. and his brother Bill Ripken, both former Major League Baseball players with the Baltimore Orioles.
WORLD SERIES GAMES
Attached is a schedule for the pool play competition, which begins on Friday, August 12th. The single elimination competition will begin on Friday, August 19th. This bracket will soon be available online at: www.brlworldseries.com.
The final championship game for the World Series will be the USA Division champion competing against the International Division champion. The final championship game will be televised.
Game tickets may be purchased upon your arrival. Several options are available as follows:

CLARIFICATION OF SPECIAL RULES
Attached are explanations or clarifications pertaining to pitching, trips to the mound,
re-entry, sliding, appeals, protests, equipment, drop third strike, and base running rules which will be helpful for you to understand prior to your arrival at the World Series.
TIEBREAKER CRITERIA
Attached are the tiebreaker criteria to be used in determining the pool play standings.
RETURN TRAVEL
Transportation by bus will be provided for you and your team to the Airport at which you arrived. This will take place on Monday, August 22nd.
