2012 Cal Ripken Wrap-Up

Scott Ready, Friday, 17 August 2012

Team Australia wrapped up their 2012 Cal Ripken World Series today with a consolation game loss against New England.

The team were disappointed that they weren’t playing off in the finals and the consolation game was not recorded in the official tournament statistics.

However, we did notch up five hits: Deeble, Fritsch, Stallworthy (2) and Weber. A double play between Williams, Stallworthy and Wright was a game highlight.

Despite losing this last game, the team’s spirits were lifted when they were presented with individual Cal Ripken signed balls.

Later in the night, four from our team (Alex Hall, Jett Wright, Jack O’Loughlin and Jess Williams) were selected to play in the All-Star Game. We are hoping to have one of these boys in the International Team which will be selected on Saturday.

Jack O’Loughlin was our starting pitcher on the mound for the All-Star Game. Jett, Alex and Jess all picked up a double each which gave them the 3-2 win in a very competitive game!

Team Australia finished with a 1-4 record, but everyone played hard and we could not be more proud of the team.

The 2012 Cal Ripken World Series has been a great learning experience for the team. One in which we hope they learn and grow from as they try to become better ballplayers.
